Chile in New Orleans: Residency With Ignacio Diaz and Diego Alvarez
Artistic Director Leslie Scott welcomed Chilean artists Igancio (Nacho) Diaz and Diego Alvarez to New Orleans for a 2-week creative film residency in September, after having met in 2019 on tour. Their time at Tulane was funded by The School of Liberal Arts Center for Scholars.
Candy Apple
Last month BODYART filmed Candy Apple, a dance film that explores women’s self-realization through the context of media. Candy Apple was filmed at Northwestern State University of Louisiana’s long-forgotten natatorium. Thirteen Northwestern dance students and three young dancers from the local community came together to create a new work at the bottom of a derelict swimming pool.
Return from Chile
BODYART started 2022 with a bang. We spent the majority of January in Chile where we presented hymn+them, hosted masterclasses, devised new work, and engaged with the communities of Valdivia, Valparaiso, Calle Larga, and Puerto Montt.
Giving Tuesday on November 30th
BODYART is working hard to serve our communities and we wanted to take a comment to spotlight our community partners.

2020 made us confront our concepts of reality. And now BODYART is diving into its first AR project. Are AR and VR the future for performing arts? Part 2 now live.
